Vicar :  Rev Thomas Brauer

Thomas was born and raised on the North Shore of the Great Lakes in Canada. He originally worked in theatre and concert lighting design and production. Later, he was involved in mission organisations serving at risk children and homeless youth. He has also served with his wife, Cheryl, doing water and community development in South-western Uganda. He was ordained in 2007, becoming a diocesan and national leader in church planting and Fresh Expressions of Church. Thomas joined us in ministry early in 2017. He and his family moved to Christchurch from Perth, Scotland, where Thomas was a Diocesan Missioner.

 Cam Haylock - Youth Pastor

Cam grew up in the suburb of Spreydon and attended Spreydon Baptist in his younger years, until he left to live in Australia in 2012. He loves to surf, skate, snowboard and go on adventures around New Zealand. He is passionate about being a Jesus- like influence to the youth involved in the cultures surrounding these sports, and in building life- long relationships in communities.


Cassie Lee - Assistant Youth Pastor 

Cassie was born in Christchurch but has spent most of her life on the Coast in Hokitika. She has spent some time in Australia, studying Event Management. After she moved back, Cassie has worked as an event manager and volunteer for St John's Ambulance. She loves being outdoors, going on adventures and hospitality (lots of cups of tea and pot luck dinners).  Cassie is an active part of the Sumner community  and loves to  share with others in their journey in following Jesus.

Rick Smith - Church Manager

Rick is responsible for the smooth running of the Church services, including the 10.30am service at Sumner School. He is also responsible for ensuring that the various groups which use the Church during the week are catered for as well as trying to keep the staff team in order. He is married to Jo and has two children.

John Fox - Curate

John was raised in Westport, Christchurch and North Canterbury, and comes originally from a Pentecostal background. He has been an academic, worked in family and community restoration, public policy, and children’s and youth work, as well as stints in pastoral care for students and disabled people. He was discerned for ordination in Auckland and ordained in 2018, before moving home to Christchurch. He is a trustee of Elevate, the Christian Disability Trust, the uncle and brother of adopted children, and a disabled person with spastic hemiplegia. He specializes in good coffee, teaching adults to read, music, and slow food.
