Sumner Redcliffs Anglican Church

Back 2 Church Sunday

Sunday 11 February 2024 Sumner School Hall

It was fantastic to gather together for Back 2 Church Sunday at Sumner Hall on the weekend. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the shared morning tea! The in-door bouncy castle was also a big hit with our tamariki, especially given the wet weather.

As a part of the service we farewelled Matt and Tom, two members of our 1030 congregation. Matt is heading down south for a bit of a change to career while Tom is moving to the North Island for study. Go well lads, we're going to miss you both!

We also recognised Andrew and Denise McGill for 25 years of faithful service to our church community. This was a total surprise for them both & we had to fess up to having lured them there under pretenses with pretend jobs!

Their citation reads as follows: "Certificate of Appreciation, by order of the Wardens and Vestry of the Anglican Parish of Sumner-Redcliffs. Andrew and Denise McGIll are awarded this certificate of appreciation in acknowledgement of twenty five years of outstanding and faithful lay ministry and service to the Anglican Parish of Sumner-Redcliffs. On this Sunday 11 February, 2024. Signed: Rt. Rev. Bishop Peter Carrell."

We also elected a new Vestry for 2024. In total 15 people put themselves forward for 9 roles (including People's Warden and Treasurer). The results have been finalised and we are in the process of contacting each person who stood for election before we announce the results publicly. We will elect our parish Synod reps at the AGM from the finalised Vestry list.

Now! Here are some photos of the event:
