Sumner Redcliffs Anglican Church

I.B.A.P.A.B.D.

Never heard of IBAPABD?

The legend goes that Saint Hopswald, a master brewer by trade, was a Teutonic pagan who was converted and baptized by a zealous Catholic priest. One day, Saint. Hopswald committed a grievous sin. Without wasting a moment, he ran quickly to his priest and confessed. Later that day, as he was particularly enjoying the peace of a clean conscience, Saint. Hopswald was so filled with gratitude for his priest’s sacramental ministry that he rushed to the rectory and offered to buy his priest a beer.

Just FYI - none of that is true...

What is true is that International Buy a Priest a Beer Day is just around the corner, and we are hosting our gathering one day early as Rev Harry is away the following day for a conference. Bring your favourite tipple to Nayland Chapel on Monday 8 September from 5.30pm to 7.00pm. Zero percent options are very welcome. We will have the BBQ going with sausages, plenty of conversation, and time to connect.

Families are most welcome. The skate ramp will be open for the kids and there will be juice and other drinks on hand for them. Because it is Father’s Day weekend there is no newcomers Coffee and Kōrero on Sunday 7 September. Instead, come along to I B A P A B D regardless of how long you have been part of the community and enjoy a low key evening together.
